We heard of the horns in the hills ringing

I was up in the Craggy Gardens area on the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend.  After walking to the obligatory lookout, I went down the road to the picnic area.  Walking the adjacent trail the better part of a mile, I came to a very interesting shelter.  I'm guessing it is CCC era, and somone said it was made of chestnut (although I doubt the recent and ongoing repairs are of the same material, but I suppose it's possible). The pillars are pretty massive (to someone used to ever-shrinking 2x4s and 4x4s), and the roof is wood shingle.  I guestimate it's size at very roughly 45 x25 feet.  I took some photos, but they aren't digital so you'll have to wait til Saxondaeg to see them.  In the meantime there are some shots I cribbed from the web:

The two shots are of a closer look at the posts.  The pavillion is in better shape than in the pics.

If you guys will sneak up there and cart the shelter to my field, I'll write an epic poem in your honor!

Meanwhile a thane of the king's household, a carrier of tales, a traditional singer deeply schooled in the lore of the past, linked a new theme to a strict metre.
